NASCAR expresses regret in NRA sponsorship of Sprint Cup race (VIDEO)
Today is the NRA 500 Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway. Facing backlash in the sponsorship agreement, NASCAR spokesman David Higdon spoke to ESPN where he said in light of this weeks race, NASCAR will be examining its rules moving forward as to who can be allowed to sponsor races.
“The NRA’s sponsorship of the event at Texas Motor Speedway fit within existing parameters that NASCAR affords tracks in securing partnerships,” Higdon stated. “However, this situation has made it clear that we need to take a closer look at our approval process moving forward, as current circumstances need to be factored in when making decisions.”
