According to a new study out by Associated Press (AP) Mexican drug cartels are sending trusted lieutenants into the U.S. to run their stateside operations.
These trusted narco associates are coming into the U.S. to live and work here while ensuring their bosses drug trafficking operations are efficient, growing and profitable. The AP report identifies at least nine non-border states where cartel operatives are working in the U.S.
Case in point is Chicago identifying Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman Public Enemy No. 1 for his burgeoning Sinaloa cartel operations in the city and in spite of the fact that Guzman himself has never been to Chicago. Guzman has numerous key associates working in the Chicago land area guaranteeing his hold on key distribution channels.
Mexican narcos are now taking over the sale and distribution of their own narcotics inside the U.S. instead of paying a local dealer the report indicates. No more outsourcing to American dealers.
The report points out that U.S.-Mexico border cities are no longer the only ones dealing with narco traffickers, it is becoming common place to find them working out of cities like Columbus and Louisville.
