The alertness level of an active volcano on the Island of Tanna has been upgraded by the authorities in Vanuatu. As suggested by the department of Meteorology and Geohazards, there is a major rise in the activity at the Yasur Volcano. The volcano is well known for its regular eruptions. It has been upgraded in its alert level up to grade 2 for its excessive continuous explosions and ash eruptions. Sylvain Todman, the Geophysical engineer at the Department, said that the authorities have warned the people living nearby Yasur to take required precautions, considering the hike in the volcanic activities. She said that more of the ash will be falling down to the surrounding villages.
This will also result in numerous ash and bombs falling down. This also affects the area near the volcano that is used by tourists to park their vehicles. She revealed about the examinations made by the Department of Meteorology and Geohazards to get more information about the volcano that will be beneficial in making a preventable plan in case the alert level rose up to level 3. She also mentioned about the warnings issued to nearby communities to cover their water tanks. She also suggested that the villagers are also being made aware about the spoilage that can occur to their garden and fragile vegetables from the volcano ash.
