European Union’s foreign ministers were unable to reach an agreement about lifting the arms embargo on the Syrian rebels during talks in Brussels, Austrian FM, Michael Spindelegger, said. The UK and France argued that the move would push Syrian president, Barshar Assad, towards a peaceful solution in a two-year civil war, while Austria, Sweden, Finland, Romania and the Czech Republic claimed more weapons would lead to an escalation of violence in the Middle Eastern state.
