Former President George W. Bush hosted the Third Annual Bush Center 100K Wounded Warrior Mountain Bike Ride May 23-25, near Waco, Texas. Apparently G.W. was inspired by Abraham Lincoln, who famously instructed the nation to “care for him who shall have borne the battle.” Lincoln created the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers a month before his assassination. Some 15 Veterans rode with Bush, who was said to have expressed deep gratitude towards the returning warriors, spent hours talking and joking with them before embarking on the arduous journey.
