An FBI agent in Virginia who told police he killed his wife last month has been formally charged with her murder.
Arthur Gonzales, 43, was charged on Friday with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing his estranged wife, Julie Serna Gonzales, on April 19.
Gonzales worked for the FBI as a supervisory special agent and instructor at the FBI’s National Academy at Quantico.
After killing his wife last month, Gonzales called 911 and told the dispatcher he was forced to shoot his wife when she attacked him with a knife. The mother of two lair died at the hospital.
Gonzales is currently being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond after turning himself in to authorities.
He was also charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
