This post Pentagon singles out China in report originally appeared on Truth About Bills
Over the past year we have been hearing more reports of international hacking from our banks, the white house and even the EPA. The US Department of Defense has singled out China in it’s annual report. Now the Pentagon has previously hinted that China has been behind such attacks however this marks the first time that they have directly accused China of cyber-espionage.
The Pentagon said that hacks directed toward government and business “appear to be attributable directly to the Chinese government and military” for the purpose of “exfiltrating information” to benefit its defense and industry. The paper also highlighted China’s “lack of transparency” with regard to its military, saying that expenditures on cyber-military operations and other defense spending were likely far in excess of the $114 billion it reported.
China however has naturally denied all accusations and has even said that they themselves have also been victims of such attacks. China has suggested that the two nations work together to resolve the problem.
