Taco Bell Moving in on Breakfast Crowd with New “Waffle Taco”

Taco Bell is continuing its attempt at getting a bigger piece of the fast food breakfast crowd, and this time the chain is testing out the Waffle Taco.

The Waffle Taco is pretty much what it sounds like – a waffle is used in place of a tortilla and is filled with eggs, sausage, and syrup.

At $.89 people will surely be tempted to try it out, the tricky part will be finding it, as it only appears to be available in Southern California for now.

Until recently, Taco Bell did not have much to offer in the way of breakfast food, unlike Burger King and McDonald’s, concentrating first on “Fourth Meal” and those awake and hungry later than 9-5ers.

However, last fall Taco Bell started going after the breakfast crowd a bit with the release of Mtn Dew A.M. – a mix of Mountain Dew and Tropicana orange juice- and the A.M. Crunchwrap, which includes eggs, bacon or sausage, cheese, and hash brown.

In 2013, Taco Bell released a breakfast menu in only a few locations, but said it was testing the waters to see how profitable it could potentially be, saying that if all goes well, it would take the breakfast menu national by 2014.

So what do you think? Does the new Waffle Taco sound appealing?
