(Before It's News)

A loud explosion has been heard in Syria’s eastern province of Deir al-Zour, media report says.

The blast rocked Mayadeen city late on Friday, and there was news about injuries, Xinhua cited Syrian media as reporting.

Other reports said the explosion was carried out by al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front against a shop whose owner, the Takfiri militants believed, did not conform to Islamic rules regarding the content of his shop.

There was no immediate report on a precise casualty figure.

Earlier in the day, a car bomb killed at least 30 people and injured many others as worshippers were leaving a mosque after Friday prayers in Rankous in the countryside of the capital Damascus.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

In a recent statement, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said the number of Syrian refugees, who have fled the country™s 29-month-long conflict, reached two million.

The UN refugee agency also said some 4.2 million people have also been displaced inside Syria since the beginning of the conflict in the Arab country.
