yesterday, London, lovely Italian restaurant conversation with an old game's industry buddy whom I'd kinda lost touch with over the last five years.
Topics of discussion: among other things (which will remain confidential) the Animalistic Nature of Humanity.
Now, I realise it's easy to see how a Free'd Planet of seven billion customers, consumers, tenants or workers might turn to a devolved animalistic world of mine mine mine in less than a few months. I mean, sure there's no way seven billion people could tribally farm the arable land of this industry-ruined planet. Nor should we ask them to. There's no way it'd work. Iindustry has RUINED a natural world our forefathers might have known. And, we're better than that.
“Why do animals fight?”
This was the major crux of the four-hour-long argument. Why do animals fight, kill each other, stalk and hunt, kill others' babies? Why are animals animalistic? Need.
NEED.
Did you hear that? The basic need to 'put food on the table' is what makes us ('cos we're all animals, right?) murder rape kill steal covet lie etc. all the Ten Commandment duo-tablet set. If you can cater for mankind's basic need: food, water and shelter, it's a win win win. Look at sated predators who has enough territory to roam freely, they're quite willing to 'let the prey exist in harmony with their world' as long as they have a full stomach. The pressure of being squeezed into too tight a territory – humans always forget they are subject to the same laws as animals i.e. squeeze too many of them into a prison, there'll be a riot. And factories, offices, cities and countries ARE PRISONS.
As long as the basic needs are taken care of, the game changes – we no longer NEED to fuck every one over for profit or win every war like it's some 'god given right'. The human race needs to rebond itself to the planetary matrix in simple (yet fundamental) ways. It needs to 'lessen its footprint' i.e. quit listening to fucking insane 'holy books' that tell you to 'go forth and multiply'. This was always just a 'cynical note to convert i.e. a war cry' and never a 'free rein to fuck and fuck and fuck' until there's no space left for 'the other animals and plants and fish and birds that have every right to inhabit THEIR PLANET'.
That's what we NEED, that realisation that 'this isn't our Free Planet' it's EVERYBODY's free planet: every life forms' free planet. We NEED to rewild this sterilised rock. We NEED to take our 'ambition, creativity and greed' out of the Homeworld Equation. We have to atone for our sins against this world, and the damage we've done will heal itself. We have to start thinking, not about 'how much can I earn' but 'how much can I give back' to a broken world.
We don't do this, we'll KILL OUR MOTHER.
