Votes indicate strong fear of vulnerability in 2014 elections

Thirty-nine U.S. House Democrats undercut Barack Obama and his centerpiece healthcare legislation Friday, helping the Republican majority pass a bill that allows a one-year reprieve for Americans to keep health plans that do not comply with the flawed and error plagued Obamacare.

The defections from members of Obama’s party highlighted the pressure on Congress to assist those who lost coverage because of the president’s obviously troubled signature law.

Here in Arizona, Democrat defectors voting for Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013 (H R 3350) were Ron Barber (CD-2) and Kyrsten Sinema (CD-9). Both are up for reelection and were reading the tea leaves of their districts. Their Dem seatmates Ann Kirkpatrick (CD-1), Raul Grijalva (CD-3) and Ed Pastor (CD-7) in safer districts held fast to the liberal line.

Republicans Matt Salmon (CD-5), David Schweikert (CD-6), and Trent Franks (CD-8) voted with the majority.  Paul Gosar (CD-4) who previously called Obamacare “fundamentally flawed,“ was mysteriously missing.

Despite a veto threat from Obama and objections from his sycophantic minions, the House passed the bill, 261 to 157. Click on the link to view the final roll call votes.

The concise one-page bill can be read here. Obamacare contains nearly 20,000 pages. Here it is wrapped in a red ribbon. No wonder Nancy Pelosi advocated on behalf of passing the bill so we could then find out what was in it.
