Americans™ approval of the way US lawmakers and President Barack Obama are doing their jobs will continue to fall, says James Henry Fetzer, an editor at Veterans Today.
A recent Gallup poll conducted between November 7 and 10 has shown that only 9 percent of Americans say Congress is doing a good job.
According to Gallup, US Congress has had an average approval rating of 33 percent since 1974, however, the single-digit approval rating registered in November has been the lowest in the organization™s 39-year history.
The survey has also revealed that public displeasure with US lawmakers is equally rampant across political parties, with only 8 percent of independents, 9 percent of Republicans and 10 percent of Democrats giving Congress high marks.
The results followed a recent Quinnipiac poll which showed 54 percent of American voters disapprove of Obama™s job performance, a record low since 2009.
œIt™s not surprising to me that the Congress is receiving record low approval ratings. It™s been a terrible Republican-controlled Congress since Obama was elected, meaning that the Republicans have been in the position to obstruct every proposal he has advanced,” said Fetzer in a phone interview with Press TV on Thursday.
œWhen you combine this obstructionist Republican segment with Obama™s own blotched policies” both with regards to his foreign policy and domestic policy, you come to the conclusion that œwe™re not only going to continue to see a fall in support for the Congress but a fall for Obama,” Fetzer added.
