Singer Luis Miguel kicked off his Latin American tour here with a concert lasting almost two hours during which he brought the fans to their feet and even kissed one female concertgoer on the lips.
After an 11-year absence from the Dominican Republic, Luis Miguel sang his most famous hits and – although the concert started an hour late – he dazzled the crowd Saturday night with numbers such as “Cuando calienta el sol,” “Que nivel de mujer.” “No se tu,” “Suave,” “La incondicional” and “Hasta que me olvides,” among others.
His performance included a virtual duet with the late U.S. singer Frank Sinatra, with whom he “sang” the famous number “Come fly with me.”
“The Hits Tour,” which began its Latin American leg on Saturday, is aimed at promoting the singer’s album “Luis Miguel,” which went onto store shelves back in September 2010 and with which he wanted to commemorate his 30 years in music.
The 43-year-old singer interacted with the Dominican public at the Altos de Chavon amphitheater, complimenting those present by calling them “beautiful” and praising them when they sang along with him.
Many well-known Dominicans were present at the concert, including baseball player Sammy Sosa, along with numerous television stars.
The Mexican singer has demanded that concert organizers provide him with a helicopter and a private chef for the six days he will be in the Dominican Republic, organizers told Efe
