Here is a link to the video showing the functioning of the 3D printed 1911 type pistol produced by Solid Concepts.

The pistol appears to function properly, with reasonable accuracy.    The 3D printer used has been said to cost $250,000.    What such printers would cost 10 years from now is hard to say, but I could believe that they could be down to $50,000 by then in inflation adjusted dollars.

Most forecasts of falling prices are too conservative.
