Professor Chris Turney, the leader of a scientific expedition whose ship remains stranded in great sheets of arctic ice since Christmas day still insists global warming is real and is causing the arctic ice to melt away. No sign yet if he has found anywhere in the arctic where the ice is actually melting, and it is just as unclear if the professor of climate change at Australia’s University of New South Wales (They have climate change professors now?) has discovered the irony in the fact he and his entire crew have been frozen in ice he claims shouldn’t be there. “We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time,” claims Turney. (Or the wrong century) “We’re stuck in our own experiment. We came to Antarctica to study how one of the biggest icebergs in the world has altered the system by trapping ice. We … are now ourselves trapped by ice surrounding our ship. Sea ice is disappearing due to climate change, but here ice is building up.”For Turney and his crew’s sake Al Gore better be telling the truth, became January is the middle of the summer in the antarctic (How interesting this exhibition chose summer to prove ice is melting), and if the ice isn’t melting now, its not melting-period.
