Fed up with the violence of the drug cartels, including the burning and looting of houses in the village, citizens of Santa Rosa Campos, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, have warned that they intend to build a self-defense group if the authority does not address their demands for security.
They intend to contact the local vigilante paramilitary leaders of Michoacan.
According to the newspaper El Debate, the residents of the southern part of the capital of Sinaloa asked to meet with the state attorney Marco Antonio Higuera Gomez to discuss the situation. However, only the attorney general attended, Jesus Martin Robles Armenta.
According to Jaime Caro Gaxiola, legal representative of the affected area, many times the people have witnessed the burning and looting of houses in the village. “People are afraid ” he said.
These acts of vandalism, said the residents of Santa Rosa Campos, are not a new problem in the village, as they have already reported before, but neither the state nor local authorities have acted to combat it.
