Canadian pop idol Justin Bieber added to his legal troubles in Miami and Toronto with more of the same in New York, when he landed at an airport in a private plane that apparently smelled strongly of marijuana, the New York Post said.
The singer of “Baby,” who arrived Friday at New York state’s Teterboro airport planning to attend this weekend’s Super Bowl, was held for several hours and later freed when no remains of pot were found on the plane, which he had chartered to travel with 10 of his pals and his father Jeremy to Sunday’s big game.
According to sources cited by the tabloid, drug-sniffing dogs searched the plane while the singer, 19, was held at police premises in the airport, which had boosted security measures due to the crowds flocking to the Super Bowl.
Bieber’s flight came from Toronto two days after Canadian police pressed charges against him for attacking the driver of his limo, and eight days after his arrest in Miami on DUI marijuana and antidepressives charges, for driving without a valid license and for resisting arrest after he was pulled over by cops, allegedly for drag racing.
Bieber posted bail of $2,500 and was released after appearing before the Miami judge by videoconference. Meanwhile the White House received a petition with 100,000 signatures asking that the teen idol be deported.
