The Univision network is partnering with U.S. showbiz magazine Variety to bring the Spanish-speaking audience in the United States wider and more in-depth coverage of the global entertainment industry beginning Feb. 27.
The alliance will be launched to coincide with the 2014 Oscars and will provide “the most comprehensive coverage of the event in Spanish,” Univision said in a statement.
“No one knows show business better than Variety, and no other media company can even come close to Univision’s undisputed ability to connect with and engage Hispanic audiences,” Isaac Lee, president of News for Univision Communications Inc., said.
The content of “Variety Latino – Powered by Univision” will be available online at VarietyLatino.com, as well as across Univision’s television networks, digital platforms and local stations, the network said.
The Hispanic TV network and Variety Media, a unit of Penske Media Corporation, currently collaborate on the production of a multiplatform entertainment segment for “Primer Impacto,” the Univision network’s news magazine.
“I am proud that Variety, an iconic brand in entertainment, is partnering with the most powerful voice for Hispanic content in America,” Variety editor Michelle Sobrino said.
“We couldn’t be more excited about the new ‘Variety Latino – Powered by Univision’ brand, which will bring millions of Spanish speakers the most comprehensive entertainment content available anywhere,” Lee said.
