Visit a European country (say, France), tell them you’re American, and you’ll likely be met with a snide look, a sarcastic remark, and then some cliched comment about how all Americans are obese and materialistic. Yes, that’s a generalization, but the global view on Americans is one of general disdain: we’re viewed as spoiled brats with little sense.
But we seem to be wising up, and quickly–at least when it comes to marijuana reform and knowledge. The latest indication that Americans know what’s up when it comes to weed: a recent poll conducted by the WSJ and NBCindicates that Americans view Tobacco, Alcohol, and Sugar as more harmful substances than reefer.
Here are that poll’s results:
THIS TABLE HAS BEEN RANKED
BY HIGHEST PERCENTAGE
Tobacco……………………………… 49
Alcohol ………………………………. 24
Sugar …………………………………. 15
Marijuana……………………………. 8
All (VOL) ………………………….. 3
None are harmful (VOL) …….. –
Not sure ……………………………. 1
It’s actually amazing tobacco didn’t get a 100% vote, and signifies that 49% of Americans are still delusional about tobacco. But those are probably the same Americans that live at McDonalds and Starbucks.
No, we’re not a perfect nationality. But Americans–moreover than any other country’s citizens–are becoming more and more unified with an opinion on pot.
And a note to all the edible makers out there: lose the sugar, get organic, and watch your product blow up.
