This 3200 Year Old Tree Is So Huge It’s Never Been Captured In A Single Image. Until Now.
“The President” is one of those trees. The giant sequoia stands 247 feet tall, measures 45,000 cubic feet in volume, and is an estimated 3,200 years old.
The trunk is 27 feet wide and the his mighty branches hold 2 billion needles, the most of any tree on the planet.
On top of that, he still adds one cubic meter of wood per year – making him one of the fastest growing trees in the world.
Giant sequoias exist in only one place, where The President and smaller trees that make up his “House” and “Senate”, reside.On the western slope of the Sierra Nevadas in California, at 5000-8000 ft above sea level.
Until now, the tree had never been photographed in its entirety.A team of photographers from National Geographic worked with scientists from the park to be the first.
It took an intricate set of pulleys and levers to scale the tree, which some argue is the largest in the world (taking width into account).
After 32 days and stitching together 126 separate photos, we are left with this breathtaking portrait of The President.

If senators in the US say “We have to cut the tree down in order to see what happens” they would cut it down in an instant and declare an accomplishment.
you are corrct and IF they did they should all be HUNG for treason!! it is idiots like that are ruining our country and only WE can remove them and restore our great nation!
Now that we’ve found it we have to cut it down. How will we ever know if the world’s tallest tree snaps about a third of the way from the top if we don’t drop it?

… When englund colonized Aotearoa, and gave us New Zealand, she did it to an unblemished tropical rain forest. Annoyingly there were far too many Kauri tree’s getting in the way of the pasture lands that we now have. Pragmatic as ever queenie’s little minions burnt nine Kauri where they stood for every one that they harvested. I’d have to check but, overall, i’m sure we lost 90% of these grand trees, to greed, and few people even care.
Oh yeah: and now we have a fungal disease killing our Kauri, it’s a Euro-fungus, lovely.

The article states this is the first time it has been captured whole on film, but it should be visible as a whole to the “naked eye”? Worth the trip to see it if one lives locally, say within 200 miles.
