(Before It's News)

Dashcam video has been released of the York County sheriff who shot a disabled Vietnam veteran as he reached for his cane during a traffic stop last month.

Deputy Terence Knox pulled over 70-year-old Bobby Canipe for out of date registration. When Canipe stepped out of his truck and reached into the back to retrieve his cane, the deputy thought he was pulling out a rifle and shot him. After realizing there was no weapon, Knox quickly rushed over to check on Canipe, according to the video posted to LiveLeak.

Knox fired multiple shots and Canipe was struck once in the abdomen. The deputy called for medical and attended to the injured veteran.

The York County Sheriff’s Office declared Knox’s actions were justified and the shooting was “an appropriate response to what he reasonably believed to be an imminent threat on his life.”
