While Pet Killings by Cops Rise, They do Nothing When a Police K9 Attacks a 72 Year Old Man in His Own Yard
Officers pursuing a wanted fugitive in Orlando, Florida failed to control their K9, resulting in an attack on a man in his own yard. This was after Bolt the police dog brought a woman walking down the street crashing to the ground.
72 year old Eugene Alls was bitten on the arm as he worked in his yard.
“When I got to the corner of the house the dog leaped at me,” Alls said.
Officer Greg D’Amato reported that as soon as he opened the door of his vehicle, Bolt went right after the walker. She was knocked to the ground and suffered bruising but was not bitten. As the officer continued his pursuit, he and the dog ended up in Mr. Alls’ yard where the dog lunged and bit his arm. The animal was leashed at the time.
Mr. Alls said he is not annoyed with the dog, it’s the officers handling of the situation. He was told to go inside even though he was bleeding.
“He’s supposed to have control of the dog. He’s not supposed to just let that dog wander where people are,” Alls said after the event.
Had this been someones pet pooch, playing nicely with the kids, it would have had a bullet in its brain in seconds. Nice to know that double standards are alive and kicking in Florida.
