- More progress has been made in anti-whaling activism in the last two days than in the prior two decades.
Japan just announced it would cancel its Antarctic whale hunt this winter, the first time in more than 100 years with no whaling in Antarctica or the Southern Ocean.
Earlier this week, the United Nations International Court of Justice ruled Japan’s whale hunt as unscientific and in violation of the global commercial whaling moratorium. Now Rakuten.com, Japan’s largest online marketplace, has also agreed to stop selling whale and dolphin meat.
