Over 5,000 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons have launched a hunger strike in solidarity with another group of Palestinian detainees who have been on hunger strike for nearly a month.
The Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners’ Affairs said in a Wednesday statement that 5,200 prisoners would engage in the solidarity strike on Thursday in a bid to pressure the Israeli regime to comply with the demands of the 100 Palestinian detainees who have been on hunger strike for 28 days to protest their “administrative detention.”
Administrative detention is a sort of imprisonment without trial or charge that allows Israel to imprison Palestinians for up to six months. The detention order can, however, be renewed for an indefinite period of time ….. http://www.presstv.ir
