Authorities Discover 9 Bodies in Clandestine Graves in Mexico
At least nine bodies have been found in four clandestine graves in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero, officials told Efe Wednesday.
A spokesperson from the state Attorney General’s Office said the bodies’ advanced state of decomposition indicates these victims died “at least a year ago.”
Police attached to the state AG’s office, who were responding to an anonymous tip, found the remains Monday in the town of Iguala.
AG’s office personnel were accompanied in their effort to recover the bodies by soldiers and state police, who are still combing the area for more human remains.
The bodies, discovered in an area where seven other corpses were exhumed in April, have been taken to the coroner’s office for DNA tests.

The Guerreros Unidos criminal gang, which was formed in 2011, operates in southern Mexico, principally in the cities of Iguala, Taxco and Ciudad Altamirano, all in Guerrero state, and in Cuernavaca, the capital of the neighboring state of Morelos.
