May 30th, 2014-An alert-level amount of radiation was detected on the California coast. The measured level of 152 Counts Per Minute (CPM) which is a method meant to quantify the background levels of radiation utilized by the sensor network monitored by the Radiation Network.
As reported by the Radiation Network, the alert area originates from Shell Beach area, which has been reporting alert-level readings frequently within the last few days:
After a 4 to 5 day interval of subsided readings, Shell Beach has returned to sustained elevated readings above 100 CPM, and issuing Radiation Alerts.
