Our friends at Campus Reform, a project of the Leadership Institute, have a breaking story you may find appalling. Campus Reform usually reports on college and university issues. This time they have some news on the Common Core controversy.
The New Hampshire Institute of Politics held a forum Monday evening, and a funny thing happened.
One of the presenters, Dr. David Pook, a professor and developer of the Language Arts Common Core Standards, teaches at a predominately white school where tuition is over $28,000. He had this to share:
“The reason why I helped write the standards and the reason why I am here today is that as a white male in society I am given a lot of privilege that I didn’t earn.”
Though he helped write the standards, Campus Reform reports that Dr. Pook’s school doesn’t use the standards because they consider them inferior.
