Washington news station KOMO News report that police who responded to a distressed man in a parking lot used excessive force, tasing him FOUR TIMES to subdue him. The man, Ron Hillstrom later died.
Ashley Patterson told KOMO:
“I see four officers walking up on him and they’re like, ‘It’s the police,’ and he’s like ‘You’re not the police’, and he goes to run in the circle and as soon as he comes back the police use four Tasers at one time,”she recalled.
“They’re out to get me! They’re trying to set me up!”
According to Patterson, one of the officers struck Hillstrom several times with a flashlight after he was finally subdued and more than a dozen other local residents gave similar accounts.
“No, he did not charge the police,”one of the eyewitnesses told KOMO’s reporters. “He was just doing what he was doing before the police came.”
Ed Troyer of the Pierce County Sheriffs Office said:
“Without seeing the whole entire incident in context, you’re not going to know why that was happening. They, officers all that were there, are all on paid administrative leave while we review it and look into it and determine what happened. Whether there’s a way we could do it better or if somebody did something that wasn’t appropriate,”
Appropriate? Unless Ron Hillstrom was threatening lethal force against the officers or members of the public I suggest tasing the man four times was wholely inappropriate.
The police are overstepping the mark on a daily basis across the country. Regular citizens are often afraid to call for help due to the numbers of innocent people becoming victims of fire first ask later police officers. For the most part these men and women, people sworn to serve and protect go unpunished by the law they are employed to uphold, yet have so blatantly violated.
