Weed - How Much Would You Pay for a Pack of “Marijuana Cigarettes”?

A Boulder, Colorado company–Cranford’s Cigarettes–has debuted and begun selling tin packs of marijuana to dispensaries and patients in Colorado. Each tin contains 10 “jazz cigarettes“, and each joint is a 100 MG THC blend of Scott’s OG and Larry OG. Since there’s purportedly a quarter ounce of weed in each tin, that would make each pre-rolled joint weigh approximately .7 grams.

In an interview with The Cannabist, Cranford’s founder claims these are “America’s first cannabis cigarette.” However, that’s simply not the case: California’s Finest has been around for close to a year, dispensaries (like the Medicine Man) have been selling pre-rolled packs of joints for awhile, and there’s a similar design in Washington

That said, it’s likely the first bulk-manufactured pre-roll in Colorado, and, to the best of my knowledge, the first that uses rolling machines instead of hands to get nice and tight. Nonetheless, Cranford’s sleek branding and savvy claim will likely result in a media frenzy and receive national attention.

Because, just take a look:

On the outside, it’s a sleek, innocuous ode to the Mile High state. On the inside, the joints looks like cigarettes–and that’s a double entendre. And divisive.

Because, 0n one hand, they look like cigarettes–and anyone can walk down the street legally smoking a cigarette. But public consumption of cannabis remains illegal in Colorado. So this clever design masks a joint as a cigarette–even if it can’t mask the smell–which makes public consumption less sketchy.

But on the other, they look like exactly like cigarettes. The first issue: what if someone sober (or on parole, or awaiting a drug test) sees one of these lying around outside the tin, picks it up, takes a few hits, and realizes it’s weed…before it’s too late.

And then there’s the stigma of cigarettes. It’s a substance unequivocally far more harmful than cannabis. It’s also, quite frankly, something the cannabis industry should not try to infuse into our culture.
