In the video below, the Beagle Freedom Project releases nine rescued beagles from a laboratory in Nevada. Until this release, these beagles have never felt any form of loving touch nor have they spent time playing with other dogs. They were confined to dark rooms, in cages with no sun. This rescue not only changes their lives forever but is incredibly touching and eye-opening to see. Do we really want to continue doing this to species on this planet?
According to the Beagle Freedom Project “Beagles are the most popular breed for lab use because of their friendly, docile, trusting, forgiving, people-pleasing personalities. The research industry says they adapt well to living in a cage, and are inexpensive to feed. Research beagles are usually obtained directly from commercial breeders who specifically breed dogs to sell to scientific institutions.” Often times they are hooked up to masks where chemicals are tested on them as well as the effects of cigarette smoke. There have been some very violent and inhumane tests performed on beagles over the years. You can find out more about that here.
How Can We Stop Animal Testing Like This?
If you take the time to read up on the animal testing done on beagles in the link above, you will likely ask yourself why we do animal testing to this nature on animals at all, never mind these beagles.
The industry justifies animal testing because they say it’s better than testing on humans. The bottom line is, we don’t even need to be using any of the chemicals that are worrisome in these products that are tested. So instead of testing on animals, let’s avoid the whole thing and simply make what is already harmonious with us, animals and the planet. To do this, only buy products that haven’t been tested on animals. You can tell if the product is tested on by reading the label as it usually mentions it. Generally, the more natural the product, the less chance it was tested on animals.
