(Before It's News)

I think this belongs in there with the rest of the cryptid stories. This guy is a monster! What could this be!?! By all means comment and let me know what you think it is. It looks like something out of Pokemon or maybe the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
A snapping turtle? I’m confused as this is a very well known species.
Just to be clear this is an alligator snapping turtle, not a normal snapping turtle. The alligator snapping turtles grow quite large as the one pictured is a younger turtle. The largest reported alligator snapping turtle was 403lbs and was found in Kansas. Here in Alabama it is not uncommon to see alligator snappers caught in the 100 to 200 pound range. Their meat is very good and they are hunted often enough that the state set harvest bag limits.
I concur.

SMH….”I’ve never seen it before, it must be some kind of new crazy monster!!!”
Or a turtle. Theres this thing called the internet, you used it to share your dumb picture. You can clearly see by looking at what you caught, that it is a turtle. You know where you live….Hopefully….So, you combine those two pieces of data, and type that into the internet.
Then, you can find out what you have without looking like a dumb ignorant hillbilly.
This is an alligator snapping turtle. Being from South Louisiana I have eaten many of these. Normally they are 40-60 pounds but we have eaten one that was 125lbs. Generally, you factor in that 1/3 the body weight of a snapper is meat. Good eatin’
