Mexico’s Pemex Records Highest Gas Output in 4 Years
Mexican state-owned oil company Petroleos Mexicanos said Wednesday that it produced a daily average of 479,000 barrels of gasoline in April, its highest output in the past four years.
Pemex said in a statement that it imported an average of 379,000 bpd of gasoline last month, down nearly 10 percent from April 2013.
In the first four months of the year, Pemex’s refinery unit, Pemex Refinacion, sold an average of 772,000 barrels per day of automotive gasolines in the domestic market.
Of that total volume, 17 percent corresponded to Premium gasoline, which is the highest octane and has the lowest sulfur content, and 83 percent to Magna (regular gasoline).
Pemex added that it produced an average of 334,000 barrels per day of diesel in April, its highest output of that fuel in the past nine months.
The company said it produced a daily average of 1.42 million barrels of different petroleum products at its six refineries, including gasolines, diesels and liquefied gas.
Pemex produced a daily average of 2.52 million barrels of crude in 2013, of which it exported 1.18 million bpd, according to company figures.
