Hydroponics: Saves Water

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without the use of soil. The nutrients that the plants normally derive from the soil are simply dissolved into water instead, and depending on the type of hydroponic system used, the plant’s roots are suspended in, flooded with or misted with the nutrient solution so that the plant can derive the elements it needs for growth.

It saves space and plenty of water. In a system like this, the water is reused over and over.  This can save as much as 90% of the water one would use for a normal garden.

Hydro growing is not a “set and forget”, but an on going science experiment. You need to take time to check and adjust water PH and the amount of nutrients in the water.

Once the levels are dialed in and stable, weekly checks should suffice.

This video offers a detailed explanation of an A frame installation, which is expandable.
