Video: End of Days- One Direction Smokes Weed
Pop culture titan and boy band mogul, Louis Tomlinson, has been receiving an unprecedented amount of blowback regarding a video that leaked yesterday of him smoking a joint.
Tomlinson, a member of boy band One Direction, is quite possibly one of the most famous people on earth. Although people out of high school may not have heard of him, 1D fans still command the trending topics on Twitter and are able to create massive waves across mainstream media channels. Late yesterday afternoon, pictures and video surfaced of Tomlinson taking some puffs while riding in a van:

Louis jokes in the video that, “Zayn takes his job very seriously. He makes sure he goes through a two-hour intense warm-up regime before every show, just to get himself in the zone. One very, very important factor to Zayn’s warm up, of course is Mary Jane herself. In fact I’m presenting it to him now for some fantastic singing.”
Now it is no secret that musicians enjoy the ganja as it has been known to boost creativity and enhance ones auditory senses. With so much negativity regarding this story, one can only assume that it is because there is still such a negative stigma attached to marijuana. Many One Direction fans are very young, and should not consume marijuana, but there needs to be more education regarding the plant and how it can be safely consumed and enjoyed.

Not everyone is up in arms about the story, and many people support the musicians’ choices. It is unfortunate for these young role models to have to explain their actions, simply because of fear and lack of knowledge regarding marijuana. One can safely assume that if it were alcohol that the teen idols were consuming that the backlash would be much less.
