The US has cut its throat by eliminating Shuttle program. Now we have no manned spacecraft and have depended on Russian vehicles to get us into space. The Russians are pixxed at us over Ukraine and have banned US astronauts from their spacecraft. 

If that isn’t a major blow, the Chinese are building a space program, with the goal of landing on Mars in 2020. Is the US an also ran? Are we getting back into the Middle East, throwing more dollars at a martial cesspool?
