Fascinating And Very Advanced 5200-Year-Old Burnt City Will Be Reconstructed
Archaeologists plan to reconstruct Burnt City – a fascinating and very advanced, 5200-year-old society located in southeastern Iran. The excavation, will begin in October.
Several trenches will be dug in the region of Burnt City and the team will be jointed by a group of experts from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences who will sample 400 of the 1200 skeletons, which were unearthed at the site during the previous excavation seasons.
One of the most fascinating discoveries made in the region of Burnt City (Shahr-i-Sokhta) in 2006, is an artificial eye attached to skull of a very tall woman, whose facial characteristics differed from the local inhabitants, suggesting that she had migrated from Arabia.
“However, considering the usage of tar in the artificial eyeball and proficiency of jewelers of Burnt City during ancient times, what we can say for sure is that the eye was made in this city,” according to Seyyed Mansur Sajjadi, who will lead the team of researchers.
“The initial studies on Burnt City’s artificial eye have come to an end which has brought into light some important information about this artificial eye.
