Distraught leftists at AZ República implore politically unaligned to strategically limit GOP in Primary Election
Once again the petulant liberals at the Periódico de la República de Arizona (Arizona Republic) are grousing about low voter turnout among registered Independents. The editorial board is of the collective opinion that without activating this perpetually drowsy voting bloc, the untenable status quo will prevail.
And what’s so untenable?
To the rock solid leftists at the newspaper that would be the fact that all major statewide office holders are Republican: Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction and Mine Inspector. Add in all five members of the Arizona Corporation Commission.
Republicans in Maricopa, the state’s most populous county, hold the offices of the County Attorney, Sheriff, Treasurer, Clerk of the Court, Recorder, Assessor, School Superintendent and all but one of the 5-member seats on the Board of Supervisors.
The majority of the 90 member state legislature are Republicans, with a 4-member lead in the Senate and 12-member lead in the House.
The panacea the radicals at the newspaper longed for and relentlessly promoted was the “Top 2 Primary” which they hoped would decimate the state Republican Party by allowing the top two vote getters —- regardless of party —- to proceed to the General. They were, of course, hoping the only choices would be Democrats. Only columnist Robert Robb was forthright enough to expose the anti-conservative ruse as “…another disappointing attempt to change election outcomes by changing the rules.”
When sham tactics don’t work, the newspaper attempts to ravage conservatives who have the daring to buck the open borders mantra and adhere to Constitutional principles. Examples are former Senate President Russell Pearce, whom the newspaper decreed deserved ouster for spearheading SB 1070. The incessant posturing against Sheriff Joe Arpaio is fed by the same poisoned well. Attorney General Tom Horne is in its sights now. In each case the tactics are identical: Nonstop, repetitive and vicious reports, often veering sharply from the not-so-important facts, are their modus operandi.
The newspaper is hoping to sway registered Independents to opt for the Republican ballot and skew the Primary election results by supporting the weakest Republican candidate in order to assure Democrats ultimately grab the power that has long eluded them. The aim is to reinstate liberals throughout the spectrum. Employing the tactics defined by Saul Alinsky in his “Rules for Radicals,” the aim is to marginalize conservatives. As an example, witness the nearly daily assault om Arizona’s effective conservative Attorney General Tom Horne.
Many are unaware of what undergirds the desperation driving the far-left newspaper. Talk to your friends, relatives and neighbors and inform them of the deceptive tactics. We don’t have the megaphone the press wields, but neither, anymore, does the desperate and faltering Arizona República.
