It is a fact that good advertising and branding are important parts of selling products. But did you ever wonder what that fancy logo and packaging are hiding? While there are a whole slew of things that could go on this list, these are the three primary ‘ingredients’ being used in the North American food supply that are irreparably damaging the upcoming generation.
GMOs
GMOs are plants or animals that have been genetically modified with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. These untested combinations of genes from different species do not occur naturally. Most developed countries do not allow GMOs. Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union mandate significant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs. In the U.S., the FDA has approved GMOs based on studies conducted by the same corporations that have created them and profit substantially from their sale.
GMOs require massive amounts of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. These are poisons that should not be eaten or allowed to run off into our water supply. But they are daily by companies who care more about their bottom lines than they do about public health, the environment or the next generation’s future.
