Google issues apology for D-Day doodle mishap
The Google Doodle posted on the 70th anniversary of D-Day was of Japanese Go player Honinbo Shusaku.
Google issued an official apology for posting a Google Doodle of a Japanese Go player on the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
The posted Google Doodle was of Honinbo Shusaku, a professional player of the Chinese game Go. The image was uploaded in error, and once Google realized the mistake it was taken down and replaced with a Remembering D-Day link, Telegraph reports.
Google Director of Communications Peter Barron said they had “always intended to highlight a new exhibition of imagery and archive material commemorating D-Day on our home page.” But somewhere along the lines the files were mixed up.
“Unfortunately a technical error crept in and for a short period this morning an international doodle also appeared. We’re sorry for the mistake, and we’re proud to honor those who took part in D-Day,” Barron said.
