Cameron Read said he had spotted Halley’s Comet before opening fire on the Moon Friday night.

Prescott Valley police arrested an Arizona man who claimed he was trying to shoot the moon Friday night.

Cameron Read, 39, said he had spotted Halley’s Comet. Shortly after, he aimed out the window of his home and fired several shots at the moon, ABC News reports.

Read’s girlfriend fled and called police and when law enforcement arrived, Read refused to step outside. Eventually, he surrendered and admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the shooting.

Read was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
