We all love sweets and desserts. Who could say no to a delicious cake, a refreshing ice cream or fresh pie? They are the perfect ending after a great meal. However, we cannot imagine paying more than $3, maybe $5 for a scoop of ice cream, but there are desserts in the world that cost thousands of dollars. Can you imagine that? Let’s see the top ten with the most expensive desserts in the world:
While most people would be happy with a classic Tahitian vanilla ice cream sundae, the Serendipity 3 in New York invented a Sundae with three of the most expensive ingredients in the world: Madagascar vanilla beans, Amedei Porceleana – the most expensive cocoa on the market, and a rare chocolate from Venezuela. On top of the Sundae, you will get candied fruits from Paris and a crystal goblet from Baccarat Hardourt with Grand Passion Cavier. To eat this delicious dessert, you will get an 18K gold spoon.
You can try this dessert in Sri Lanka, at The Fortress luxury hotel. This Italian cassata has a champagne base, a gold leaf around it and Irish Cream. It is served with mango and pomegranate compote. On the plate you will see also a miniature handmade chocolate fisherman sculpture, which contains an 80 carat aquamarine stone. The jewel is present for you. The dessert was created in 2007 to pay a special tribute to the Sri Lankan pastime of stilt fishing. Interestingly enough, The Fortress Sri Lanka was recently named one of the world’s hottest new hotels in both the Condé Nast Traveller UK Hot List 2007 and in the Condé Nast Traveller US Hot List 2007.
There’s no spelling errors where this dessert is concerned. In 2010, when this dessert was created, at the Serendipity 3 restaurant in New York, it was the most expensive dessert in the world. This dessert is served in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet, that comes with an 18 carat gold and white diamond bracelet attached to the neck of the cup. The dessert includes the most expensive truffles shavings, frozen hot chocolate mix made out of 14 of the most rare and secret cocoas from South America and Africa, milk and ice cubes whipped cream. The topping is made out of five grams of 24 carat edible gold.
The edible cannoli is a dessert covered in edible gold, created especially by baker Carey Lennaccaro of Overland Park sprinkled with sugar. The price of this dessert is so high because it is served with an Italian necklace with diamonds, created by jeweler Tom Tivol. The original cannoli is a Sicilian dessert, in a tubular fried pastry shell filled with whipped ricotta cheese and sweet cream. The special flavor is given by the bits of chocolate, orange peel, candied lemon and nuts that are added on top.
Usually, we pay $4 or $5 for a chocolate pudding. If you want to make it really special, you can add some champagne jelly, which will cost $30 extra. But if you want to add to it a 2 carat white diamond, the price for your chocolate pudding will go up to $34,000. This is what Mark Gulbert did at the Lindet Howe Country House Hotel in Windermere, Cumbria. If you want just to taste the pudding, you still have to pay $1,200 for a bite.
