U.S. and Communist Chinese officers have met and discussed how they would respond to an earthquake in a fictional third country.
They have met eight times to discuss alleged disaster relief.
U.S. and Communist Chinese militaries were involved in the 2008 Wenquan earthquake, the Tohoku earthquake, and the tsunami in Japan.
China has been officially involved with US led Cobra Gold as an observer since 2002. Cobra Gold has been exercising for 33 years.
In 2012 a US/China joint anti-piracy exercise was held off Somalia.
