Four people were killed and two others badly injured when their small aircraft crashed in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, Mexican authorities said Friday.
The plane, which was headed to Veracruz city from the northern Gulf coast port of Tampico, when down Thursday night in a mountainous area near the town of Alto Lucero.
The two injured survivors were taken by helicopter to a hospital in Xalapa, the state capital, Veracruz emergency services director Ricardo Maza Limon told reporters.
One of the survivors is in critical condition, while the other is listed as serious but stable, Maza said.
Navy personnel joined police and other first responders in rescuing the survivors and recovering the bodies of the dead.
