APS to close I-10 between Tonopah and Quartzsite this Sunday

Overhead power lines
will installed over the interstate
PHOENIX – Drivers traveling between Phoenix and California on Interstate 10 on Sunday morning, July 27, need to plan ahead and allow extra travel time as the highway will be closed intermittently between mileposts 67-68 as APS installs power lines over the interstate, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officers will stop traffic several times from 5 to 9 a.m. Sunday up to 15 minutes each time to allow APS crews to make the aerial crossings. The location of the work is about 75 miles east of Quartzsite and 43 miles west of the SR 85 junction in Buckeye.
Drivers can expect delays and congestion approaching the I-10 closure. The speed limit will be reduced near the work zone and flaggers will be present.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center atwww.az511.gov or call 5-1-1.
