“The Iranian Red Crescent Society is prepared to help the Palestinians through sending medical and welfare aids,” Mohammadi Araqi said in a letter to Head of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society Younnes Al-Khatib on Sunday.
Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for six consecutive days, killing at least 163 people and injuring more than 1,100 others.
On Friday, the NAM strongly condemned Israel’s recent aggressions against the Palestinians, and called on the international community to break its silence on the Israeli crimes.
During a meeting held at the UN headquarters in New York, the movement members discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN Hossein Dehqani who presided the NAM meeting, deplored the Israeli regime’s bombardment of the civilian Palestinian areas as a flagrant violation of human and international rights.
“Such crimes are committed in a situation that the Gaza Strip has been besieged cruelly in recent years and the humanitarian conditions in this region are at the worst level,” Dehqani said.
He also reminded the international community of its responsibilities to prevent the current massive crimes, and blasted the UN Security Council for its inaction and silence against the Israeli crimes.
Also on Friday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in separate letters to heads of Muslim states urged them to do their best to help the oppressed Palestinian people and lift the siege of the Gaza strip.
“Unity of Muslim countries against the enemies is vital at this juncture,” President Rouhani said in his letters.
Meantime, he warned that the cruel blockade of Gaza and acute shortage of medical aids are worrying and can lead to a human catastrophe.
“Helping the oppressed people of Palestine and preventing the Zionist regime from committing its atrocities are the common responsibility of all international organizations and freedom-loving countries of the world,” the Iranian president said.
He pointed to the “heroic” and “legitimate” resistance of the people and resistance groups in Palestine, and said, “Undoubtedly, the resilient and great nation of Palestine, with its indomitable will, will once again defeat the Zionist regime.” SOURCE
