Prosecutors charged Williams with first-degree assault, burglary and armed criminal action. The shooting was about 4 a.m. at 2330 N. Travis Ave. The home’s resident, Joseph Allen, told police that several men broke into his house and fired shots, and he returned fire, hitting one of the invaders. He said the invaders then fled.
