Mobile technologies are helping Hispanic-owned businesses improve productivity, client service and communications with employees, the president of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce said.
Javier Palomarez said that, according to a recent USHCC-sponsored survey taken among 513 Hispanic companies, 82 percent of respondents said that greater productivity could be attributed to the use of those devices, while 62 percent said they help grow their businesses.
“We always suspected that the Latino community uses technology more than the average white consumer, but the study has found that such is not just the case with Hispanic consumers, but also among the Hispanic business segment,” Palomarez said in a statement to Efe.
The business leader said that Hispanics have become a community that is “very dependent” on mobile technology and is also using it to “grow their businesses and improve client relations.”
Thirty-nine percent of Hispanic entrepreneurs said the use of mobile technology helps them save between two and three hours of their time, though 15 percent said it saves them more than four hours, while 8 percent said they did not notice any time saved.
Among the mobile applications most used by Hispanic small business owners, 82 percent use social networks, 81 percent use the digital calendar, and for 65 percent it is a way to keep up to date on news relevant to their business sectors.
In addition, 55 percent use them for banking operations, 36 percent for processing transactions, 32 percent for making purchases, 29 percent for keeping track of expenditures and 23 percent for translations.
Hispanic entrepreneurs are owners of more than 3.4 million small businesses in the United States, which, the study said, signifies a total of $468 billion for the national economy.
