Shakira Comforts Pique After Spain’s Lackluster World Cup Appearance

Colombian singer Shakira, who will perform in Sunday’s World Cup closing ceremony, said her boyfriend, Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique, was still trying to get over his team’s ouster from the tournament.
Spain, the defending champion, did not make it past the first round at the World Cup.
“One of the things I’ve learned living with a soccer player is that I have to be ready to support him during difficult times. Sports are cruel, you win and you lose. He is really very frustrated, but I have my ways of cheering him up,” the Colombian singer said.
Shakira will be one of the stars of the closing ceremony at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium.
