14th June 2014, Theresa May answering questions from the Home Affairs Committee about the Inquiry announced last week. Firstly, the questions are related to Baroness Butler-Sloss, who was to have chaired the inquiry into institutions but announced today she was stepping down.
This inquiry was to investigate what went wrong, what have we learned, and what should we do. Secondly, she answered questions relating to the Wanless – Whittam inquiry was was established to ‘review the review’ instigated by Mark Sedwill into the missing Home Office files relating to claims of child abuse by senior people.
