Three members of a family were killed and five others wounded Friday when gunmen burst into a home in the capital suburb of Ecatepec and started shooting, Mexican authorities said.
One of those wounded in the early morning attack was a 4-month-old infant, the Mexico state Attorney General’s Office said.
Shell casings found at the scene indicate the assailants were armed with heavy-caliber weapons, according to a statement from the state AG’s office, which is supervising the investigation.
Score-settling was the motive for the attack, Radio Formula said, citing unnamed official sources.
While part of the Mexico City metropolitan area, Ecatepec is under the jurisdiction of Mexico state.
